I can burn with out any problems using memorex dvd-rw/-r and TDK dvd-rw. For some reason I can't erase the dvd-rw discs. I tried to erase the discs using Nero, Alcohol, and Power Producer Gold but no luck.

Anyone else with this drive having any issues erasing dvd-rw or have a driver/firmware?

    Drive: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4080N
    Bios: version 2.5

Yes, I have noticed this but unfortunately I have not found a way of getting around it. Lol! How poor is this, DVD-RW that cannot format... :(

I had no problems erasing my Sony DVD+RW via the NTI CD & DVD maker software that came with the notebook.
I am using the same drive and bios.
