It says on acer's site that it has an accelerator.

Well then, you answered your own question.

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
It's coming, but not here yet.
-
Cry................
IT'S ressistive multitouch. Unless google translate made a mistake
http://translate.google.com/transla...ed-ferrari-one/&sl=auto&tl=en&history_state0=
Damn, it looks sexy, but is it to much to ask for an n-trig digitizer on something other than an hp tx2z or dell xt2 . -
Well its getting crowded. According to Engadget a 1420P tablet is listed on the US Acer site and might come next month.
Tobi -
Wow... Your link is so HOT, and it is not the female model.
Great photos. And so interesting to see a US keyboard
in spite of being displayed in Taiwan (or China).
Original photos found here without any comments.
(To confuse us even more, this Asian URL refers to a 1420P model...
)
-
As posted, Engadget, USA also announced this sighting.
... three more thumbnails. -
Duplicate post... sorry!
-
Wish I knew more about display touch.
Can you say more about why you are disappointed with "resistive"? -
He's probably so use to a iphones capacitive touch he wants someting similar. Either way its irrelevant, its all dependant on how the manufacture intergrates resistive or capacitive digitizers. If implemented poorly, even a capacitive digitizer would perform poorly than a properly implemented resistive digitizer
-
I'm sold on the 1420p. SU2300? Check. (plays Youtube HD, longer battery life) 5600mAh battery? Bluetooth? Under 3.8lbs? Check, check and check.
I've patiently held off on the tablet idea for years, but with W7 and multi-touch, it seems like it's finally to the point of usefulness. Acer - just tell me how much(don't get greedy) and when...and soon -
Same here - as soon as this is available it goes to the top of my buy list !
-
I can't imagine Acer charging any more than $700 for it, but I hope they don't make a liar out of me.
-
Acer normally prices everything reasonably - there are other tablets being prepared for release by numerous manufacturers so this is a chance for Acer to "take" this segment as they did for other netbooks.
But then again I could be wrong . . -
It's not that, but you are wright about it being irrelevant. I Just knew that ressistive = no pressure sensitivity, unless it would be based on stantum technology, but that one suports 10+ fingers not 2 , so I just don't know. If it had been capacitive it would have a huge chance of either N-trig or Wacom in which both cases would mean pressure sensitive digitizers.
But since we have a ressistive( not 100%sure) multi touch screen, and judging by the packard bell videos, it's probably the best implemented ressistive touchscreen ever.
PS, I don't even own an Iphone/ipod/anything, I just toyed around with them + most modern tablets in electronics stores here in Tokyo.
And If it doesn't have pressure sensitivity, well I can live with that, I'm taking it for the battery life and being able to write notes which it should be the best tablet up till now for that pourpose.
Oh and 1 more dillema, If it is ressistive, do you know if it has palm rejection software for when you're writing? -
Well I will probably get the more powerful 1820PT but may consider the dual-core 1420 if it has both bluetooth and the 5600 mAh battery. Does anyone know if the 1820/1420 will take the same battery as the 1410/1810? I am guessing it will be different just because the of the swivel screen mechanism but it is possible that it just props up a bit higher in the back. I am asking because I have a 1410 that I bought a 5600 mAh battery for and it would be nice to be able to use it.
-
All we know is that on all international acer sites at the spec sheet it says 5600mAh battery with 62 whr.
-
hmm.. i wonder how much would the 1420p be..? it is using a intel SU2300..
source: http://www.liliputing.com/2009/10/a...reen-tablets-introduces-the-aspire-1420p.html
I hope it is around $500.. if it is.. I'll get it for sure -
Honestly I doubt it, more like 650$ best case scenario for the su2300 and worst case would be 950$ for the su7300 model. Since it's a niche market, the only competition they have is the hp tx2z wich is going for 800-1000$ for the windows7 version and it's running amd with only 5hrs of battery on the 8 cell version. There is one more new tablet from Fujitsu here in japan it has the same internals except for the proccessor which is a 2.2ghz single celeron, and they are charging 139000 yen for it, around 1450$.
-
heh.. if it is above $600.. I would choose the HP TX2 actually.. We will see as time comes I guess.. More and more tablets are coming out due to Windows 7 support of multi touch. I was hoping it would be a low price tablet since they are making a "Gateway" tablet also, which would be more pricier than the "Acer"
-
Well I need a long battery tablet for under 1000$ and fast, the tx2z ain't gonna cut it.
This is my view of how the tablet market will evolve :
-Acer/Gateway/Packard Bell tablet comes, everybody will like it, tablets get a bit more attention from the general public.
-By the time competitors notice the hype it's 2010 january= intel Arrandale proccessors come out , N-trig, Wacom, and Stantum technology are in full gear and so the tablet wars begin. Since it's new technology the prices will range from 800-2000$ for most.
-Getting close to the end of 2010, Multi-touch tablets mature , LOTS of useful apps exist, every1 using office 2010onenote on their tablets, prices are lower, and POW Intel Sandy bridge comes out and the cycle repeats.
Up till now tablets have evolved waaaaaaaaay to slow, I believe this tablet will change things, that's all.
A perfect tablet pc would have all day battery with an out door viewable Display on full brightness, 10 point multitouch, a pressure sensitive pen , and video grafics good enough to handle let's say......Starcraft 2 / or 3d rendering of the human body for doctors to use, and ofcouse 1080p lcd for a lightweight 13-14 inch model+ all the other stuff that they alrdy have. -
Most likely the Acer won't fit your need then lol.
The screen would most likely be a glossy screen.. which is like unusable outdoor on a sunny day.
It hsouldn't range from $800-$2000 though, especially the brand "Acer" -
Sry, I was just imagining my dream tablet for next year. This acer tablet Is good enough to get me started. The cheaper it comes out the better.
And I rly hope they don't put a warranty sticker over the drive bay for the japanese model like the they did with the 1410
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tJWiuL6dF4
An ssd would be legendary -
well, i think most of the japanese models usually have a sticker on the bottom.. but the United States model don't.
-
Arg, don't you just hate it when you know something is coming but don't know when.
-
I'm really hooked on this tablet. Hope it arrives soon and without being too pricy.
What about a sunny day sitting in the shade? -
From what I've seen so far this is Soooooooo Mine...........
-
I'll go ahead an speculate a $650-700 sticker. Any lower and it takes sales from the 1810's with not much more powerful specs (IMO). Any higher and many can't justify almost double the cost of the 1410.
-
In the shade it's ok , but the problem arises for commuters when they are using public transportation, it always goes from shade to sunlight.
-
We are asuming that will have the same display of the 1810T series, but probably will be different because the touch capability isn't?
Or there is somewhere a review of this notebook ?? -
Interesting comment.
All we've really got is the following info from the 1810PT spec sheet at Acer's European site.
"11.6" HD 1366 x 768 (WXGA) pixel resolution, high-brightness (200-nit) LED-backlit TFT LCD with integrated multi-touch screen, supporting finger touch and pen input
or 11.6" SD 1024 x 600 (WSVGA) pixel resolution
Convertible design with screen image auto rotation"
I'm guessing still glossy, given the reflections seen in this recent photo. -
Arg. This needs to come out in November 'cause I can't wait any longer than that! -exasperated gasp!-
oh how moore's law likes to torment me. -
In Spain an Acer distributor told me that they expect the product hit the shelves from mid november, ready for the Christmas campaign
There is one shop, that already is selling it at 525+16%=609 euros (a little expensive in my opinion), but off course they don't have stock yet:
http://www.blauden.com/acer-aspire-1820ptz-413g32n-pent-su4100-320gb-3gb-11-6in-noopt-w7hp-wi-fi -
Is it possible to ask that Distributor if the pen has pressure sensitivity?
It is probably the single most important piece of information still not known. -
Unfortunadly, the distributor does not know that details
I also want to know the kind of display (capacitive, resistive), glossy, etc.. and the preassure sensivity of the pen (I would like to use it for quick retouching of photos in the sport site)
I assume we have to wait the first review. -
Thank you.
I guess we can only wait. -
I really hope notebookreview.com or the sister site tabletpcreview.com review this tablet as soon as it's available.
It's like a cheaper, more powerful, Thinkpad X200.
I'm really interested in this. -
Exactly, if it has pressure sensitivity it will be perfect, If not, oh well.
But still you could call this the first "people's" tablet. -
While we are all waiting anxiously ...
Check out this new HP DV3 TouchScreen at Engadget. (not a tablet)
First I've heard of it. Looks like a 12" or 13".
Core 2 Duo T6600 cpu
4GB / 320GB with Nvidia graphics
eSata, BlueTooth, & looks like 3G
7 hour battery
799 Euros
The video is interesting, if not disappointing. -
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
The DV3 is 13.3" and it won't get 7 hours of battery life with the Nvidia graphics. -
Glad to see I'm not the only one like this.
-
lol.. just keep on waiting
It'll come out whenever it comes out. -
Definitely not the only one.
-
Keep in mind that the 1820PT is listed only on Acer's European site.
There is no reason why the US market will be the first.
And in fact, the first Tablet models may never be sold in the US.
Remember, the original 1810 line was never sold in the US. We got the 1410.
My theory is Acer needs time to ramp-up production on new models.
So they release slowly, starting in smaller markets, like Spain, for example.
Hope I'm wrong! -
Actually, the 1420p has it's own home page in the United States if I remember correctly.
edit: seems like the United States website has 3 models listed:
Acer 1420p
Acer 1820PT
Acer 1820PTZ -
Who cares about America , I'm in Japan.
-
Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
November...
-
Even though it's the US website (us.acer.com), it lists the European models. See the top right corner showing "Europe"; if you switch to "United States" the 3 tablet models disappear.
-
didn't see that xD
o well.. it will come out soon -
Yes. And what worries me even more, is that
all three were originally posted at Acer as American models.
But purposefully changed to European after a day or two.
