Hello everyone,
Just switched on my 1825pt yesterday and noticed the wifi wasnt working. Spent all day today trying to get it working again without success. I have a feeling the wifi card has died which is pretty annoying since i've only had the machine for 3 months. But just wanted to see if anybody had any ideas what this could be before i think about replacing the wifi card or sending the laptop back to acer.
Im running windows 7 64bit.
Basically the card inside is an Intel wifi link 5100 mini pci. I noticed it shows up in device manager as "Network Controller" under "other devices" like its not being detected properly.
I've tried re installing the drivers from the acer eRecovery program. And tried downloading them from the Intel website.
Tried rolling back to a couple of previous restore points.
Tried completely resetting the thing to factory settings and re installing windows.
Tried taking the battery out and leaving it unplugged.
Even resorted opening it up and unplugging the card and putting it back in again in case it was loose.
Was considering just buying a new wifi card for it since its easy to replace, but the only thing that makes me wonder is the little slidy switch at the front of the laptop that turns the wifi on and off, does show the icon on the screen saying its being switched on and off, but the wifi LED on the front isnt lighting up at all. So does that suggest the switch is broken in some way?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Not really- the switch may be broken but it may be not. If you turn Wi-Fi on (on a fully working unit) with no Wi-Fi card inside it will not light up either.
Best way to check is to use another Wi-Fi card from another laptop- do that if you can.
Also make sure the Launch Manager is installed properly.
