I have a problem. Windows Xp professional recognizes my Cd/dvd drive as external device. I dont want to have an icon in a system tray. What should I do?

Is this an external drive? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think you remove the hardware detector from the system tray. There is a check box in XP on the Taskbar properties page which allows you to hide inactive icons so you wouldn't have to see it. Also you can use Tweak to hide the System Tray.

It is the same for mine, but it doesn't bother me as a problem. The optical drive is in the laptop and configured as non-removable by the fixed pastic fixture by acer but i think its removable originally.
