i don't know why i have the luck of this happening to me on thanksgiving, when most stores are closed and this will have to wait to be resolved, but my acer is dead, or something. i only have one battery and one battery charger so i can't test either one to see if one or the other is the problem. i woke up and realized the LEDs for power, standby, and charging were all off, no lights at all. i checked the charging adapter and made sure all the connections from the wall to my laptop were secure. i took the battery out and put it back in, nothing. i left the battery out over night, and still nothing. i don't know what's wrong with my laptop :(.

as for the history of issues that may be related to this: my dvd burner no longer burns (nero says the power callibration or something is messed up), i tried removing the drive and turning it on, but no luck. i have had to replace the keyboard twice and never damaged or touched anything inside the laptop, last time the keyboard was changed was over a year ago. i updated the memory to 2 GB (2x 1GB sticks) and this was also over a year ago, this has never negatively affected my laptop.

i can only assume it has to be either the battery or the charging adapter because the the battery won't charge or won't indicate to be charging when plugged in. any help from anybody?

Try pushing the powerplug up and down when it's attached to the computer and see if some of the leds turns on. There might be poor connection between the plug and the input on the computer. I've got the same problem with an Aspire 1804. If you know how you can try to replace the dc-jack witch attaced to the motherboard. You'll find the servicemanual here:

You'll find a dc-jack for this model here:

When that happened to my 5672, the fix was a new motherboard and cpu...

So you left it on and when you came back it was completely dead?

If so, it probably just blew while you were away. Mine made a sizzling noise and then the puff of smoke came out the left side.

    Good luck.
