Hello Peoples,
I'm trying to decide between an Acer Aspire 2025WLMi and a configured HP zt3000.
Here is a link for a discussion about it:

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

So now it really comes down to a build and quality issue.
I mean the Acer looks and feels solid, and seems to run cool and quiet. However without the extra specs that the HP can come with.
Quality build and performance is important to me as I'm hoping to get some serious use out of this laptop, and take it out for live gigs.
I also would like it to run quietly because I'm hoping to do some recording with it.
So does anyone have any experience with the HP or Acer with regards to build quality and running quietly?
Would the HP be able to handle all that, or should I sacrifice the extra specs for the Acer?
Please let me know.
Advice is greatly appreciated.

Well, people that got the HP ZT3000 notebooks were fairly happy with them (check the HP Forum). Including the people that got the NX7000 & X1000 series (same build platform). The quality is also good, espcially the hinges for a 15.4" Widescreen LCD, there very little "bounce" when it's open. When the unit is running normally and the fan doesn't kick in, you can hardly hear the unit. The fan does come on when CPU intensive apps/operations are running, but it's will go for about 15-20secs and then turn off every 10mins or so or when it's needed. The fan does not give a high pitched noise, the only way I can describe it is if you were to exhale quickly after a run. That's generally as loud as it gets.
A good thing to do is to see if Acer has a return policy, because I know HP does. You can get the system that will give you the most bang for the buck, if you don't like it, just return it and go for the other.
I hope this helps.

Hey, thanks for the info.
Okay, so going for most bang for the buck definitely sounds like a good idea. So I'm leaning towards the HPxt3000 now.
Most companies only accept returns if its defective right?
Is it possible to return it if I simply don't like it?
Does anyone know how the Acer or HP return policy stacks up?
That would be cool to know.
Please let me know.
