hi everyone ,
iam planning to buy the Acer Aspire 2025 laptop but just have these questions :
1) can anyone tell me what kind of difference does a 64MB vga and 128MB vga chip make when iam viewing (a) DVD Movies , (b) Playing Games and (c) surfing the internet & developing flash sites.
2) widescreen vs normal screen : does widescreen mean my DVD/VCD Movies will apear abnormally shaped if they are not of a widescreen format. would'nt that mean the picture is actually streached giving the movie a un-natural feel. And would the still images (photos) also look streched or apear in their actual dimentions and ratio ?
3) i'v checked the 2025 and 2026 specifications and the only difference i see is that 2025 is 1.8 Ghz and has BlueTooth whereas 2026 is 2 Ghz and does not have BlueTooth ! right ? so which one is really worth it ( i mean there would'nt be much much differenc between 1.8 and 2 Ghz ... so i could go for 2025 which has BlueTooth ... right ? )
please give your professional comments !
thankx alot

1. Absolutely no difference at all for A & C. This extra video memory is for 3D applications or games. For game play, you may notice a very small performance increase, but I dont think it's worth the money.
2. DVD's should play at their set resolution (whatever the max is). It shouldn't stretch at all, you should get bigger black bars on the side. Pictures will also display in their native resolution, so you don't have to worry about stretching. All widescreen does is give you more pixels on the side for more desktop real estate.
3. The 2026 should also have Bluetooth. My cousin got one of these in the UK and I believe he said it had Bluetooth. You may want to verify with Acer in your country. I'd go with the faster unit if there's not too much of a price difference.

thankx vb for the info ... one other thing i would like to ask is ... i see there is a feature called aspire arcade .. and it allows you to play movies , music and view photos without booting up the laptop .. right ! ... so is there any picture quality difference while watching a DVD movie in aspire arcade mode and watching the same movie by booting up the laptop and using media player or any other movie player to watch the movie ... ? does the picture quality differ in the 2 modes ... ?
thankx alot

No, you should not notice any difference in video quality. It is using an MPEG-2 codec to decode the info, so it should look the same as your movie player in Windows. It's actually running a movie player. The system boots into a Linux partition (I believe) and plays it in there with it's own movie player.
