For the second time, it seems that my hard drive is failed, when I boot up I get a error saying "A disk read error occured" - Press control alt delete to start.....

Anyways to fix this? I am seriously considering selling this after I fix this error, this thing is giving a bit of problems with the hard drive.

You may download HD Tuner ( http://www.hdtune.com). It's freeware and could detect if there is any damage on your HD. In addition, is your lappy still under a warranty?

Yes but the thing is that I just got the hard drive back on friday since it gave "delayed write failed" errors and now I get these errors, I cannot boot from disk either.

Have you tried to see if the problem is with the hard disk or the laptop itself. If you have access to another laptop, try using your current drive in the other laptop and see if you get any errors. Otherwise I guess it should some sort of MB issue on your Acer.

Did you format? Also after you did a clean restoration, try switching it to NTFS if it isn't already.

I cannot get anywhere with the Operating System, I cannot get into Safe mode or any other mode besides bios. I did a system recovery and I get a error saying it cannot read the disk, the hard drive is dead and I think I didn't put in it properly. I got it back friday from service with acer and sunday it's dead again.

I installed the hard drive green side up, it only goes in one direction so I did that, I hope I didn't mess it up. While the hard drive was running for 2 days, I heard it crumbling (like someone is crumbling up paper in their hand) that's how the hard drive sounded. I installed bit torrent, zonealarm and that's really about it and when I did a scandisk with windows it never came back on.

So I'm either going to see if warranty can fix it once again, if not then I'm buying a cheap hard drive and selling the computer for $500.00 firm and pick up a old thinkpad.

Send the whole laptop back to acer and damand it be fixed right. It's under warranty, use what you paid for.

Also did they send you a new drive back or the same one repaired? If you got the same one back call and *****, I hate companies that fix the drive I sent and send it back to me. Give me a drive that's been tested right.
