I just purchased an Acer Aspire 3002LCi laptop and it's a mean beast, love it all the way, great deal for its price.

I didn't like the way Acer partitioned the HD though, so thinking that the recovery CDs alone would work I wiped out the Acer partitions and created my own. Guess what the recovery CDs need the PQSERVICE partition to restore my system. So I guess I'm f**ked. So I grabbed a copy of XP Pro and installed it. Now I'm downloading the drivers from Acer's support website but it seems some things still don't work, for example the on-screen notification of whether wifi is on or off (the mean green label you see on the LCD), the same with the volume gauge, etc. How do I get those back? Also it seems right now that the laptop can't go on standby either automatically when I close the lid or even manually from the Start menu. Any ideas?

I know it was stupid of me to wipe out the factory state partition, but any help would be appreciated! :D

OK sorry for freaking out, I found the remedy to my own problem. It's the Launch Manager. I didn't download that at first since I didn't find it when I searched for drivers. But I eventually found it and installed it and now everything is back to normal again. I hope this post serves as a useful document should someone experience the same problem.

Now the only one thing left I couldn't find to download is the Acer GridVista, if anyone knows where to find it please let me know.

Thanks for letting me the space.
