I think that is the one with the four cell battery which means not very good battery life.

The bottom can get a little hot, and the touchpad can also get a little hot, but it works fine for me. ;)

For general use(surfing...) it get a bit warm around the touchpad and the bottom of the laptop. Only when it is stressed out do you feel any thing hot. I wouldnt say it's the hottest running laptop but it isnt cool either.

But as zazonz memotioned Acer decided to put a 4 cell battery in a 15" laptop- :(, so battery life will be poor.

Battery life isn't a factor. It'll be a desktop replacement.I'd add 1GB of ram and a better hard drive.

I have had mine for a month now, just added a extra 512 Mb of RAM and it works like a dream. Battery life is very poor indeed (about a hour). For the running hot part the touchpad seems to get a bit warm but not hot and the underpart of the notebook seems to get a bit warm also. But for the rest it was a great deal $620 + $51 for the extra 512Mb of RAM at Tigerdierct.

P.s.: When you add the extra memory you can also raise the shared memory settings to 128 Mb in the Bios wich makes the notebook perform much better.

Yes I am at 768 MB now it came with 256 MB and I bought an extra 512 MB. I runs pretty smooth like this I have however changed the shared memory settings in the Bios from
64 MB to 128 MB. So that will leave over 768-128 = 640 MB for the system itself.

HUH!...maybe this will sounds like a stupid question but...how do you get to the BIOS information? Somewhere,on the screen,I get I have 512 MB memory and no video memory at all and elsewhere,I get that I have 448 MB of memory so I guess I have the usual 64 MB of video memory?Never did I get any real information about the video memory I have.

Press F2 when you see the Acer splash the minute you turn on the laptop. This should take you to the BIOS menu. IN one of the sub menus you'll be able to set the amount of graphics memory.

I've had my 3003LCi for about a month and I'm happy with it. It did have short battery life, but ~$80 on ebay solved that by dmore than doubling battery life. Mine doesn't get hot.

I did add 1GB of RAm, and now it's very fast and very nice. I wouldn't do any hard-core gaming with it, but it's good for a road machine for me.

It's a good laptop for the price I must say...

Runs pretty fast for a $600.00 laptop but it's gets pretty hot and the fan is pretty loud, I'm going to change the fan and throw in a better hard drive as soon as it gets back from Acer....

Then sell it to my mother for and see if I can get something for around $600 from craigslist.com, I've seen a dell 9300 on there for $600.00 but sold already....
