assuming that your computer was able to correctly identify your network or wireless card/s and you have installed the proper driver/s for both wireless and wired it is possible to change the mac address using a utility. i recommend Macmakeup v.195d. you can safely download this useful utility at:
    http://www.gorlani.com/publicprj/macmakeup/macmakeup.asp

the utility's installation and use is quite intuitive. i am confident you would not find difficulty using it. if you successfully are able to change your nic and/or wifi card's mac add then you are all set. but if even this fails, you may have a hardware problem in your hand. either you have it repaired if it is still under warranty or you could buy a nic pc card (pcmcia) for wired purposes and/or a wifi adapter pc card (or usb wifi).

please continue to post the results of your tweaking/troubleshooting in this forum.

it is possible that the network card is dead. but assuming it is not allow macmakeup to create for you a new macaddress. if a new mac address created by utility is accepted by your network card, then you are all set. but if even that does not work, then you would need to get a different NIC. the only way is to use a network adapter pc card because you could not change/remove the built-it NIC of the notebooks motherboard. if it is a wireless internal module then you could change it with a new one or use a wireless network adapter pc card.

was this problem observed from the beginning, since you bought your notebook or is it fairly recent, that is, suddenly the NIC no longer connects to the internet or network, even though you have done the reinstallation?
