    Hi all,
I have an Acer Aspire 3050 Notebook, running Windows Vista and the SP2. My problem is that the computer will not Shutdown. After a long while (3 minutes) the screen goes dark and remains dark for another 3 minutes and then it re-boots. The only way I can Shut it down is by pulling the battery pack out after I press the shutdown button.
    The BIOS is version v1.3112
    Thanks.

    Nothing obvious comes to mind...

Have you made any system changes or installed/updated drivers etc or has the problem just sarted for no obvious reason.
    Maybe try system restore.
Perhaps try running a disk check,
Check your hard disk for errors

and running the command sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

    Thanks for the reply Mooly.
This is a brand new Hard drive. I was having the same problem with the old HDD so I installed a new Seagate 250 GB drive.
All drivers are from the Acer website for this machine.
Would the battery pack give me this sympton ? It is not new and it does not hold its charge for very long. I have to run the computer on the PSU.
Would a new battery pack solve the problem ?
