Hi. Just found your excellent forum. I have an Acer Aspire 3050 which I bought some years ago. The problem is that it is getting very hot (Notebook Hardware Control says 80-88C after just some 30 minutes work doing nothing particular)
Now the vents are placed at to the left and at the bottom of the notebook (smart design :D) and the air coming out of the left vent gets hot enough that you can't hold your hand against it for very long, so I'm guessing the bottom vents are not doing any good. (and why should they as they are crammed down against the table).

Any good ideas? I thought about a combination of cleaning the fan and buying a Belkin cooling pad for my laptop.

    Thanks in advance

Look into the bottom vents with a flashlight, and if its dusty clean it out with Canned Air Dusters, or a vacuum cleaner, etc Also use HWMonitor to monitor system temps....

Also have a look at the Undervolting Guide, and check out the Cooling Central as well.

Woah. Actually found out that the upper-right vent at the bottom was almost blocked with dust. Removing it from the outside with a needle yielded almost 10 degree C decrease. Now I run at 63-70 degress compared to 80-88 before :)
I'll still buy a cooling pad and perhaps look into undervolting. Thanks :)
