    Hi all,

My daughter's Acer laptop started having troubles this week. The keyboard and touchpad are unresponsive and I'm pretty sure the USB ports aren't working.

I did a little research and it seems the problem is with a chip on the motherboard.

1st question: Has anyone had similar issues like this and were you able to determine if it was a hardware issue or is it a software problem that might be fixed with reformatting the harddrive?

2nd: if it is the motherboard, is there an aftermarket board available that could be substituted for the original Acer?

Oh, and I'm new here. :)

    Thanks,

    Darknight
