I have a Aspire 3680 that has Windows XP Media Center with a Realtek HD Audio Sound card. I just bought a headset and when I go to plug in the mic it works fine but when I plug in the headphones I get no sound coming out of it. It says A jack has just been plugged in but I get nothing, Can anyone help me? I dont know if this helps but it says SPDIF below the headphone jack.

I assume you have a stereo headset. You should have a speaker icon in the bottom right hand of your screen next to the time. Right click the speaker icon, click on playback devices and make sure the speaker icon (top) is set as the default.
