    HELP!

I also have no sound. I have tried every option available on this laptop!!

I am a single frustrated female!!!!

Good for you! Girl POWER!!! [IMG]

You may want to try to re-install chipset drivers as well as sound drivers. and report back after you have attempted this.

The mere mention of it can bring out the basic male instincts to, er, protect and all that I guess..

Anyways.. Does the DVD drive read other discs? Writeable media uses a different wavelength of light, so it could be the laser isn't working properly, which will require a new drive. It *might* just need a clean, but that's a long shot (and something I try and avoid as I've had cleaning discs kill the lens in the past). Sometimes a firmware update can help, but usually if a drive that did read/ write discs no longer reads/ writes to exactly the same batch of discs it's knackered. Drives aren't all that pricey or tricky to fit though.

As for the sound, have you tried headphones/ speakers plugged into the headphone socket? Is the sound card listed in Device Manager, can you change the volume etc either in control panel or using the speaker icon next to the clock in the system tray?

well, young lady, can you tell us what version of Windows you are using on your Aspire 3680 laptop?

As for the sound problem, check to see if the sound drivers are installed correctly. Obtain & install the realtek audio drivers for the aspire 3680 notebook computer from this page:
