The keyboard and all the buttons on the keyboard area have stopped working and responding on this notebook. I currently use a USB keyboard because the original does not work. But its troublesome lugging around the USB keyboard. All the buttons on the keyboard do not work except the power button. The mouse works perfectly fine, except for the fact that after being on for 10 minutes, the surface temperature reaches very high. Therefore I have to have a seperate USB mouse. Is there any way I can make the original stuff work?

I checked in Device Manager, and it says the keyboard is properly working, but it is not when you try typing...

    OS: Vista 32-bit

Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you!

Hi! Sounds to me like your keyboard's ribbon cable may have gotten loose, somehow. To check and fix this is a fairly simple operation if you care to try.

First, remove the two screws from the rear of the hinge covers and open the screen all the way (flat). Now you can pop the cover above the keyboard off. There are small tabs on the front and rear edges of the cover and if you start from the left rear then work your way across gently prying and tilting the cover it should come right off.

Now you only have to remove two small screws and you can tilt the keyboard up from the rear. You'll see the ribbon cable going into the connector which has a tilt-up bar across the front of it. Just tilt the lock upward from the front and remove and reseat the ribbon cable. Now push the lock bar back down and reassemble.

Hope that does the trick. Good Luck!
