I have a problem with an Acer Aspire 3683Wxmi notebook - Vista Home Premium

LAN (local area network) is not available - we can only make network connections using wireless. We need to be able to use the Wired Ethernet as that is the router we have. If you go to "Manage Network Connections" only the wirless adaptor is shown, the Wired LAN is not shown. In device manager it states it is working correctly (MARVEL YUKON 88E8038 PCI-E FAST ETHERNET CONTROLLER).

I have updated the driver from 9.11.11.3 to 10.22.6.3 but it has made no difference.

    Anyone any ideas?

I'll have to check - trouble is its a laptop at my parents in spain and i'm in the UK. And let's just say that they are not expert computer users.

I haven't been utilising any of the "e" stuff, opting for traditional ways that i know. I'll give it a try.
