Wow, this forum is great, I just found this and have had the laptop for almost a year. Anyway I have a few question to ask that I hope can be answered.
    1. My laptop did not come with a Bluetooth installed, at least that is what I think....when I try to turn it on, I get a message that says something like "Bluetooth and 3G not installed" Does this mean I just need to install the driver or do I need to buy a bluetooth adapter to install? If I need to buy one, does anyone know which one to buy? (i.e. 4, 6, or 8 pin cable)
    2. I just finished reading the tread about the 3680 upgrade, what are the differences between 3680 and 3690?
    3. Can I upgrade my processer as well? Will any Core Duo with the M socket fit?

    Spec.

    Acer 3690-2970
    Processor Brand: Intel
    Processor Class: Celeron M Processor
    Processor Number: 520
    Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz
    Front Side Bus: 533 MHz
    Mobile Technology: Other
    L2 Cache Size: 1 MB
    System Chipset: Intel 943GML Express
    Memory Speed: PC2-5200 (667MHz)
    Memory Type: DDR2-SDRAM
    Installed Memory: 2 GB

Thanks for the help, and again this site is great....I wish I would have found it a year ago.

well open the backside of ur laptop and locate the BT module
or goto support.acer-euro.com and get the drivers for the BT
or get the service manual and check if ur model came with the BT installed

    yes u can upgrade to a T7600 most probably....but T5300 n T5200 are the safest bet....
since u have the i943 chipset....it shud support cpus with 667mhz fsb....
just remember to update to the most latest bios version of ur laptop....
the acer euro site shows prehistoric bios's for win xp os....
so if u have xp....u can still update ur bios to the vista versioned bios....
    i did it as well
for my laptop....the xp versioned bios was 3216 whereas that for vista was 3505....i installed 3505 and all went fine....but during updating an using winphlash turn on all the 'safety options' such as the compatibility test and do make a backup of the current bios....!!
I do remember seeing one guy with a 3690 on that thread....i dont remember much about him....

well to be honest i do not know much about the 3690 since it quite different from the 3680....and i dont have BT on my notebook as well....but i did remember seeing one 5570(which is similar to the 3680) with a BT module near the heatsink thing and near to the ram bay....
safest bet get the BT drivers and install em....if ur BT works hallelujah....or else u wud be much better off with a usb BT adapter....its quite a pain to install one....!!

I just tried to install the driver and it says there is no bluetooth device installed. So anybody know where the connector for the BT is?

No I wasn't sure if it was there. I just confirmed it because I tried to install the software. My question is what bluetooth adapter should I buy to install? If you do a search on ebay for Acer Bluetooth, you will see a number of different ones. The only difference is 4, 6, or 8 pin plugs. I am not sure where to look to confirm which number of pin plug I need. I opened the case up and couldn't find an empty plug. The laptop has the capability because it has the switch beside the radio switch on the front of the laptop.

Well, after doing more research on the internet, and fully disassembling my computer. I have determined that there is in fact no Bluetooth module on my motherboard. I did find the location, and have determined that its the same as the 5630/5680 model. that is also why the T5300/T5200 fit into the board. The 5630 has the T5200 and the 5680 has the T5300 processors in them.

    Thanks for the help.
