    Hi

I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm new to this forum
have had my 3820t for about 6 months. A couple weeks back my little cousin set his foot on my screen by mistake. I thought the whole thing was broken but then I saw I could see stuff if I looked close, figured the backlight was broken.

Took it apart and fidgeted around a bit with the inverter board and got it to work again, for a while. Now it has turned dark again and doing anything with the inverter board won't help.

The inverter board is riveted to the screen and everything.
I found a place online where one could buy a spare screen hopefully with an inverter board, I have mailed them and asked.

My question is, has anyone here changed only the inverter board on one of these screens and how did you do it?
And if so, where do I buy an inverter board? And where do I buy a screen with inverter board?

There is a 3820T manual stickied on the first page of this thread. It has disassembly proceedure. I don't know where you are, so its hard to suggest a source for parts. If you're in the EU, MK Electronics in Germany seems to have a great selection of parts for the 3820, even if they are a bit expensive. You should also look on the internet. Displays are available on EBay here in the US.

    Thanks! I'm in Sweden.

    It's almost this board: http://www.insidemylaptop.com/image...lay/remove-lcd-screen-replace-inverter-11.jpg

Is that the LCD panel PCB? I alwayes called it the inverter board. And on my 3820t it's riveted, so the LCD, LED backlight panel and inverter board is one unit.

I found this: Acer Aspire 3820T Laptop Replacement Screen
But I don't know if that website is legit. Plus I want to examine the possibility of changing just the inverter board, since that is what I think is malfunctioning.

What do you say? Has anyone changed just the inverter board on the 3820t?

I don't think anyone had. Though I am thinking it is the lcd not inverter.

    Why do you think that?
    1. I can see things on the LCD screen, only the lights are out, so to speak
    2. Fidgeting around with the inverter board got it working, before it stopped working completely

This unit has an led backlight. There is no inverter. The board you spoke of is the logic board for the lcd.

check the back of the lcd, is it an AUO (AU Optronics) lcd? Does it have a small flat cable with a 90 degree bend in it?

If so, you will need to get a hold of another lcd to replace it.

I believe you are correct. The Logic Board is identified in the on-line manual that I directed him to. The LCD module resides on the motherboard and is not removable. The problem could be there. Given the symptoms you describe, I would serioiusly think about having a tech check the output from the LCD module on a LCD display before I ordered a new one, but new displays are easily available from EBay here in the states and from resellers in the EU.
