I have had my Acer Aspire 4315-2004 for about 2 years now. It came with Vista, but I installed XP Professional and installed all appropriate drivers. It has been working fine. However, recently my touchpad mouse has been acting very buggy. When I click and unclick an item, it acts as if I am still selecting--and when I scroll everything is selected. Or else, if I click something--it wants to copy the item and will not move out of that mode and allow me to click something else.

I ran chkdsk in case there was corruption issues. I also reinstalled the mouse driver too, but it isn't working any better.

I'd hate to think there are hardware problems...and the idea of reinstalling the system is not a pleasant thought. I can certainly use a usb mouse, but I do prefer the touchpad. Any ideas?
