i have a problem with my aspire 5000, it fails to power up form battery or AC. its only 9 months old. i have spoken to acer and they are refusing to repair the laptop because i can't find the seial number of the laptop. i have sent hem POP, they said no. they keep telling my to look in the bios, but i can't because the laptop doesn't power up. now they are failing to reply to my emails. by law if the laptop is under one year old they must repair it. what should i do ?

    thanks

The serial number is on the bottom of the notebook as well look for a long piece of white paper with the model number and manufactured date on it then on the lower part of that paper you will see the serial number(LX...).

All of this is of course assuming this paper hasn't been removed.

Acer will only fix a notebook for free if it is still under warranty from when you purchased it otherwise you will have to pay them.

Hope this info helps you out. :)

There should be three pieces of paper on the bottom of your notebook

    1)The windows license
2)The wireless radio type and manufacturer information
3)The system model number, manufacturer date and serial number

If you cannot see that paper then the BIOS is your next best place to see it, which is a problem for you right now. :(

Most likely if your notebook is failing to power on it may mean that your motherboard is now dead and yes acer should fix that for free if your notebook is still under warranty.

That is strange even my old travelmate has all 3 of them. Calling them and explaining the situation might get you through faster than using email but anyway I hope you get through with getting the notebook repaired. :)

Do you have a receipt? or the original packaging, serial number should at least be located on the box if not on the receipt.
