So my friend gave me his laptop to fix, and everything is perfect... except that the acer emanagement program doesnt have any power management options, like slowing down processor etc.

What can I do? Where could I find the proper Emanager?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having the same problem with Power Management on my Acer Aspire 5100 - everything on first page is grayed out and there are few options available. I tried using power options in control panel but it does not work either.
Actually, I'm also having a shut down/reboot problem. I can't have my antivirus (iolo.exe) running or the system will not shut down normally.

    Thanks

Ive got the framework installed. some of the features work and some do not. I forgot myself for a moment and allowed sp3 to install - that was the end of everything working. I ended up rebuilding from scratch. Almost everything works.

IE has problems (right click doesn't work and popup blocker won't disable) - my wireless card doesn't work either. It is recognized but the hard switch isn't turning it on. iolo won't allow a normal shutdown if it's running. I had a Hal.dll problem and wonder if I have replaced it with the correct hal version....

I've downloaded all of the Acer Aspire 5100 drivers/programs and loaded them (several times) I'm stuck. Thanks
