I am looking into buying a notebook with a turion 64 processor so the Aspire 5000 looked good. Im going to be playing some of the latest games on it so I wanted a decent graphics card. So my question is will the SIS M760GX be able to handle Battlefield 2 and other games? And how much of a difference will their be in its performance compared to a radeon or Nvidia card?
Thanks for your help

The Mirage 2 is more or less equivalent to the Intel Extreme graphics 2. Not really good for any sort of gaming, so I doubt that it would even play battlefield2.
If you dont want to spend a lot, but want to get a decent machine capable of playing some of the newer games try the Acer Travelmate 4400...

Thanks
I downloaded a demo of Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War and Battlefield 2 so im going to go try them in the store and see how they run. Thanks for the help and ill look into the travelmate 4400. -
Ok so the travelmate has only 512 RAM but a better video card and its $300 more expensive. But the aspire has 1 GB RAM but a crappier video card. Do you think this trade off is worth it? Im not sure how crappy the SiSM760GX chipset with integrated Mirage 2 graphics really is. So this is why Im asking. Ive given up on playing Battlefield 2. Ill just settle with Warcraft 3 and Warhammer 40k: DOW. Just wondering what your opinion is?
Thanks again for the help -
I would say the TM 4400 is better gaming machine and I would recommend that over the Aspire 5000. RAM is always user upgradable, so if you feel the need for more RAM then upgrading is easier and cheaper but the graphics card is not upgradable and you are stuck with it for the entire life of the laptop.
Trying out your games in the laptop you wish to buy is always a good idea, the Aspire 5000 is a good VFM but its gaming pedigree is nothing to brag about. In the end it depends on whether you are willing to spend the extra $300 for the better gaming experience or you are willing to settle on the Mirage2 with gaming on low settings or not being able to play some of those games at all. -
I can only agree with miner. The Acer Travel Mate 4402wlmi is where budget gaming is at right now. This is the most extreem value yet in notebooks that I have seen. It comes with very nice features. DVDRWDualLayer DVD-RAM Slot loaded, 100GB HD 5400rpm, X700 (64MB), Turion 64 1.6GHz, 6-in-1 reader, I have seen it online for just over $1200! What surprises me most about this notebook though is the high end DVD and HD they put in it along with the ATI X700. The X700 is really the faster and best gaming card in portable notebooks right now. If you want faster the notebooks are suddenly DTR notebooks usaly 17" and heavy.
The only thing that has me thinking twice about the 4402wlmi is the 64MB VRAM, though it probably doesn't make a diffrence in most games or in the native resolution this notebook has anyway though. But if it had 128MB I would have bought it in a flash, to bad... Anyone has any info on what the performance diffrence in real gaming situations would be, 64MB vs 128MB?
