    OK,
I have an ACER Aspire 5002 WLMI. The LCD Monitor has a black virtical strip down the right side. I have connected a exsternal monitor and it works great.
So my question is...is it the graphics card, motherboard or the lcd monitor?

    Help.

Since the laptop has no such problem when connected to external monitor I'd say it's your LCD fault. Which may mean it's the motherboard connector used to connect to the LCD...I really can't say if it's LCD's fault ONLY.

I diconnected the LCD monitor and reconnectd it because I thought it might fix the problem but it's still there, Do you think it's worth replacing the LCD monitor?

No idea. Don't know if your laptop is new/old cheap/expensive etc. Look on ebay to check prices. Or e-mail Acer.

Although you should check for loose cables first. I'd reconnect all the connections.

First off, remove your HDD and boot into the BIOS and see if you see the black vertical strip. If not, then its a software issue.

    Stev,
    Did you get any solution?
I have the same problem with my Acer 5002-WLMI-15.4" screen.
Vertical Black strip on right side.
