    Hi everyone

I have had an Acer Aspire 5021wlmi for the past 4 years or so. I have always had the power button issue where the button lights up, the fan starts but nothing more happens. However, now im experiencing af problem that i have never ever seen before..!

When i start the computer i have to start some kind of sound playing, like a song within Media Player or something else and then keep that playing to prevent the computer from freezing! I have around 30 seconds from the welcome screen in win XP or Win 7 until the freeze if i do not start some sound playing.

If i keep the sound playing, then the computer works fine. If i stop the sound playing then the computer freezes within 5 seconds.

    Heres some info:
The problem persists in both Windows XP and Windows 7
When the freeze happens, the computer just locks at whatever it was showing on the screen and you can only turn off the computer by holding down the power button in 8 seconds. Sometimes i even have to remove the battery to shut it down.

I've tried disable the sound card in the Device Manager. This doesnt solve the problem.

It does not freeze when running in safe mode.
