Hello, I have an Acer Aspire and last year I purchased a replacement battery for it. I did so because the original battery wasn't holding much charge. Anyways after I replaced the battery My brother borrowed it for about 6 six months.

When he brought it back, the battery wasn't holding a charge at all. As soon as the power cord came loose or came out, the laptop would shut down.

Sometimes the laptop stays on, when I take out the power cord but I doesn't always do this, sometimes it just shuts down. Also the battery light always keeps flashing, doesn't matter what's happening to the laptop.

Also When the laptop does stay on when I take out the power cord, The battery symbol in the taskbar comes up. When I hover my mouse over it, it dosen't state how much batter is left, it just says "Unknown batter remaining".

I think there might be a problem with the laptop not recognizing that the battery is there or the laptop isn't charging the battery at all. How can i fix this?

    Thanks
