Hey uh, I'm pretty sure this is the right section for this. I have a pretty old Aspire 5100, about 3-4 years now I think. When it wakes up from sleep mode the screen goes all garbled, maybe displaying correctly for a fraction of a second every once in a while. The computer still seems to accept input fine, and I can see that I'm logging back in to it even though it's all messed. However in that state it's nothing short of unusable. Restarting the computer fixes the issue.

The issue is independent of operating system, and has occurred under Kubuntu 11.10, Ubuntu 10.04, and Windows Vista. I'm using the most up to date BIOS.

    Other specs:

    AMD Turion64 1.8GHZ
    2GB RAM
    ATI Radeon Xpress 200m

I've found a few other people reporting the same problem after hours of googling, but I didn't see anything that really explained the problem, or provide a solution. If anyone can help me out that'd really be appreciated. I'd like to be able to make use of sleep mode.
