I purchased two Aspire 5100 laptops as Christmas gifts. I proceeded to order the Vista upgrade from the moduslink site and accidentially ordered one upgrade. I noticed that the shipping charge was $14.99. I canceled the request and resubmitted for a quantity of two. The shipping total was $29.98 for one order for a quantity of two to the same shipping address. The response (directly from the reply) from moduslink: "Shipping and handling is calculated pre product, not per order."
How's that for service! Ship me two CD's from the same place, to one location, with one shipping order number, and charge double shipping.

It's not just really a shipping charge. It's a way to give you a "free" item and still make money. Part of the cost is to pay the service that takes our information and sends us the software. The other part is to make money. It is a tactic that sellers have used forever.
Nevertheless, $30 for two OS's is still pretty cheap. -
Thanks. I understand the concept of "free - just pay shipping". I simply object to paying $30 to have someone put 2 CD's in an envelope and stick it in the mail. I work hard for my money and every penny counts. Reasonable charges would be acceptable. I simply don't see this as a reasonable shipping charge.

Yeah, they are making a little bit of money out of shipping. Although Acer should have taken care of such charges. For some manufacturers like HP they dont charge for shipping(in US only).

Do you have to send in your barcode too in order to claim the Vista Upgrade? I had to surrender mine for a cashback...

I don't recall being asked to provide an invoice or a receipt. I registered the laptops at the Acer site and proceeded to the Vista upgrade web page where I entered my serial numbers and received a confirmation and a shipping number.
