    Hi All,

I bought a used acer aspire 5102 from a coworker. He asked for me to put xp back on it using the recovery disks since he wanted to use his vista disk for his newer laptop. When I did this everytime xp loaded it froze right after the xp load screen. Acer informed me that I should update my bios so I did this from dos and when it got to the end and it said complete, it froze. I left it like this for two hours before I tried to power it down. I could not power down the computer at all. The only option, was to unplug the AC Power, and take out the battery. After doing this, I plugged the battery and AC Power back in, and pressed the power button, the computer does not even power on; no leds come up, nothing. I have read about crisis recovery discs, but have been unsuccessful. Not sure what the next step would be. Thanks for any help.

    Hi and welcome to NBR

Unfortunately it seems that your BIOS update was unsuccessful. Aspire 5102 has a Phoenix BIOS right? Check this thread, it might give you some idea of how to recover it.

Its Not just the screen being dead, the power button doesn't even turn on the fan, lights or anything. I tried all of that before posting. Thanks for the response and Thanks for welcoming me! Glad to be a member, SAD :-( to be here for this.
