    Hello,
I have a an Acer Aspire 5102WLMi notebook that the screen just went completely white on and then upon restarting nothing is displayed, but the computer at least seems to turn on. I've tried plugging it into an lcd monitor but there still isn't anything displayed. I have removed the ram and the computer doesn't give any beep codes. I should note the laptop isn't mine. This is how I received it and what I was told. Is it possible for the on-board video to go bad? Is there anything I can do to pin-point the problem?

    Thanks

    hey Stryker23,
I had the same problem with my 5102WLMi. After trying hard to find someone on Acer support to help me and hadn't a single answer, I decide to fix it by myself.

I noticed that pressing the upper-left part of the LCD, sometimes turned LCD back on and windows shows up. I opened my LCD monitor (I don't know why warranty if Acer does not answer any email or even help to find a place to fix it) and checked the upper left sticked circuit. After almost an hour, I finally found the exactly point who was messing up.

I don't have electronic skills to fix it, but I have a friend whom works for Foxconn (HP, Sony and others' manufacturer) and he took it to their maintenance facility to fix it for me.

Acer never shows up when we need them, I had help from Sony and HP manufacturer instead.

I'm sorry about my "engrish" but I hope I have helped you.

Have you found a solution? I am having the EXACT same problem, I removed the ram, no beeps, so I thought I'd hit the internet for answers. When you turn yours on, does it act like it is loading Windows? Mine doesn't. I can hear the fan speed up, then slow down after about 10 seconds, and the cd drive light turns on for a few seconds, then back off.

i hate to say it,,, but your issue sounds like a serious mainboard issue.... while upgrading my CPU i was able to duplicate the symptoms you are having by powering up w/ NO CPU..... i'm not saying your CPU is bad... infact if i had it guess (which is was i'm doing)... i'd say you have experienced a motherbaord failure.... i would expect some beeps w/o ram in...

sorry i can't be more helpful
