bought a 5013 about two months ago and are now getting problems almost all the time when I want to shutdown, restart or hibernate. I never know if it will do what I want or if I will end up with the fan and hard drive running. What happens is that the system shuts down and the screen goes black with the power light still on. The hard drive flashes up but nothing more. The fan is also running. The only thing that will shut the system down is by holding down the power button until it switches off. That usually leads to me getting an error message at start up (powercut or something) but not always.

I have tried to roll back the broadcom driver as I read somewhere that it might fix it, but it seemed not to work.

I have also checked that there is no applications running during shutdown and all processes seems to be closing down ok also.

Have tried to call acer support and they told me to do a new install which I have done without any success.

Any ideas how to get around this.

take advantage of the warranty and send it back to them

on another note, I'm having terrible problems with my 5003 wlmi, and am never buying an acer product again, and I suggest you do the same.
