Hello, i bought Acer Aspire 5104WLMi yesterday, about 5 hours later the screen started to make problems.. the screen went blank with stripes flickering all over it..

is there something i can do to fix it, or i need to go replace my laptop?

edit: powered the laptop on again for about 5 mins, and somehow it got fixed.. what the heck can be the problem??

I do have similar or the same problem (my flickers differ a little ;)) with an Aspire 5024 with Radeon x700.
It's most often encountered while rescaling to a resolution different than native i.e. from 1280x800 to 640x480 (the lower the target resolution the more often this problem occurs).
I've had Ati Tray Tools running so I used the hotkey to restart video card- didn't help. On the other hand in my case it's enough to put the computer to standby mode (Fn+F4) and wake it up and the problem disappears (most of the times).
It doesn’t' seem to be system related (both Vista and XP can do that ;) nor driver related (I update every month, used Vista and XP drivers, Omega, NGO and modded official drivers).
No idea what is that but luckily it's rare and ain't much of a problem.

If it is under warranty report the problem to Acer and let them sort it out for you now. Dont leave it hoping it will come right on its own as you will definitely pick up problems at a later stage.

thanks for the replies, i bought the computer 2 days ago.. 5 hours later it did it, restart/turning off and on didnt help, but after i let it run for few mins, it got fixed (dont ask me how)..

    now it happened again..
ofcourse im going back to the store today to replace the laptop..
what i want to know is, is it a common problem in acer? if so i will replace it to diff laptop, if not and its only happens in 1/100 laptops, i will take the same version

AFAIK not a common Acer problem. You probably got a lemon.
