    Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading the cpu on my 5315 ICL50.

Upgrading (installing etc isn't an issue), i was just wondering what cpu I can put in.

    Here's the current specs:

    CPU: Intel (R) Celeron(R) 550 @ 2ghz
Chipset: Mobile Intel (R) 965 Express Chipset
    RAM: 2gb

Be great if someone could throw some idea's

    cheers guys.

yes the T7500 will work fine!

    T8100 & T8300 are better options

but you can use and SOCKET P CPU up to a T9500. (standard disclaimer applies, LOW VOLTAGE & VERY LOW VOLTAGE models will not work,, but those are very rare and HARD TO FIND even when looking..

there are a few people that have posted info or links to their BUY/SELL/TRADE threads...

you can keep your eyes open for others upgrading to higher models,, but i'd bet when considering a T7300 or higher your best bet is EBAY

don't buy any chip that is an ENGNEERING SAMPLE, those chips have often been abused and put thru tests we can't even imagine..

buy from someone who gives a decent return time 7days minimum 30days is better,, and the seller needs to have a long history and great feedback,,,

No, EBay is the cheapest. The T7500 will fit, but a T8100/T8300 is a better option - for optimum performance and energy-efficiency.
You can checkout newegg for the retail CPUs with Intel's 3 Year Warranty.

EDIT: BigO beat me to it. :D

    cheers guys,

One thing i've just noticed (probably me being dumb), i've just run cpu-z and it's saying my chipset is GL960.

Looking at intels website, the mentioned cpu's won't run on that, is this where the bios update comes into play, or am i just being dumb lol!!! Or am i missing something

    cheers

when you intstall a CORE2DUO after first boot up,, windows will load drivers for your new CPU,, REBOOT,, then run CPUZ and see what chipset you have then....

    it''s magic!!!
