    Acer Aspire 5315 problems, swiches off then only black screen, will not boot?

    hi there, I have an acer 5315 and has os vista, i installed windows 7 and from the point that i did, laptop started switching off randomly. when i tried to swich it back on it would go to a black screen with a flashing cursor in top left hand corner and no further. no keys would work, nothing. only way to get it back on was to hold off switch down and then switch back on, at this point it would boot to os. Well thinking that the problem didnt start until i installed windows 7, i un-installed it and installed vista again, hopeing this would solve the problem but it hasnt. still switching off and getting black screen and cursor.
    can anyone help as at wits end
