    Hi,

I have an ACER Aspire 5500 which I think someone must have spilt some substance on the keyboard. I have cleaned the motherboard and components and have been able to get it to work again. However the following occurs:-

When booting up when the ACER screen apears the laptop starts BEEEEEEPPPPing continuously. If I bash the keys around the arrows and Right Shift and END key section it stops beeping then proceeds to start windows. Everything works OK except whenever I try to open files I noticed the last file is always highlited. When I try to open other files it always opens the last highlited file. I noticed when I opened Microsoft word that on the bottom right hand corner the word END was constantly flashing as if the key was being held down.

I removed the keyboard and left an external keyboard plugged in but the same problem still occured.

    Any suggestions.

Dude16, when you say you removed the keyboard, did you disconnect the cable from the mainboard? I'm just wondering if maybe you have a sticky key (i.e. a breadcrumb) underneath the keyboard.

Hope you manage to get it sorted out - I could definitely see it being an annoyance.

    rod.saveirs, Thanks for your reply.

I did remove the Keyboard completely including unplugging the cable. I also removed the END key as they just pop off pretty easily and cleaned it but still same problem.

    Hi Nutech3,

No did not solve the problem. Ended up buying a new laptop. Still have the old ACER if you have an answer though. :)

    Thanks.
