Getting kicked in the behind for doing a friend a favor.... Agreed to reformat this model laptop. All went well except I can not find a network controller or chipset driver anywhere for this unit. Any one have a suggestion? This forum seemed to have a few threads regarding this laptop. Most center around XP drivers. I did the format with Vista cause that's what was originally on it. Acer's site lists the model and has drivers but none seem to cure the network controller. Wasn't in the VGA or Lan driver package.

I've tried searching by Acer model, the eMachines model and by motherboard model.

    Thanks for any help!

Well, I guess I some what helped myself. Installed a wireless dongle and installed all available windows updates. Lan connection is now happy. Network controller is still not happy and I need to get the built in wireless functioning but it's a start!
