    I'm in deep crap, friends.

Yesterday, I've been told by an Acer representative that I should upgrade my BIOS as soon as I mentioned slowdown.
So I decided to upgrade with the BIOS from the site at Acer PanAm.

As soon as it said it was making a backup of the BIOS I previously had, it blacked out and turned off. Upon boot, my screen was black, my LEDs were flashing despite the only keys working were Caps and NumLock; and pressing the power button once would turn it off.

So then, as I thought Google was my friend, I searched for guides on how to do a BIOS recovery. Thing is, I don't remember my BIOS version, and I needed to go buy a USB floppy drive to do the Crisis Recovery Disk method. So I managed to buy one for $15, and tried the Fn+Esc solution correctly and endlessly with many BIOS versions, but to no avail.

Also, the laptop had to be downgraded to XP, as when it was previously a Vista with only 766MB of RAM, I couldn't do jack with it without slowing down like an elderly person on Ritalin. Maybe this has something to do with Acer's BIOS being Vista-only?

I suck with computers, so I dunno.
I've been told I should change my BIOS chip, but I don't have the money for that.
I need help, and fast! D:

    Eternal thanks in advance!!

If you were advised to do it by an Acer rep, it's their problem. Go send it in and get it fixed (ask if you can take the hard drive out first to protect your data).

    That's the problem; I can't!
I've had this laptop for over a year now and it's out of warranty, plus as stated above, I barely have any money left.
Sending my laptop to Acer isn't really the best idea.

Okay, now this is really getting on my nerves.
I've tried almost every single Acer BIOS recovery guide here but no dice. Raelman's solution, the Crisis Recovery Disk and bigozone's thumbdrive solution all have failed among others I've seen elsewhere.

Basically, I got no money whatsoever, my warranty is void for a long time now and I wasted $15 on what seemed to be a necessity.

I guess the world really hates the 5520-5865, as do I.

I think I got a lead, though. Raelman said that if you removed your HDD from your laptop and tried to apply his solution without Fn+Esc, you'd be able to recover your BIOS after your laptop reboots 20 seconds later, and Frank in the same thread said that his Autoexec.bat would cause beepings during Crisis Recovery Mode to alert you of progress. I removed the HDD and used Frank's Autoexec.bat on my key, and although I was in CRM, I heard beeps coming from the laptop except it never rebooted at all.
I might have a lead, but if someone actually has a solution, it'd be most appreciated.
