For the last month my laptop has been randomly shutting off. It does not display anything - it just turns off completely. Usually after it turns off it is hard to get it to turn back on unless I wait several hours. I tested the temperature and it is not overheating.
After hours of researching online it seems some people have the exact same issue when their CMOS battery is going dead. To top it all off a week ago when I turned my computer on the BIOS and time reset confirming the CMOS battery is going out.
I have talked to a couple laptop repair guys and they both insist it is impossible for the CMOS to cause random shut downs. These repair guys are also unable to find out what is causing the random shut offs. Other people online have confirmed that after replacing the CMOS battery the problem was fixed.
My problem is that I cannot locate the CMOS battery in my laptop. Normally I can see the battery on the motherboard and just pop it out, but it either isn't in plain sight on the motherboard or it is another kind on this laptop. So, can anyone help me locate the CMOS battery on this model Acer?

Did you try to find service manual for your laptop?
I think you will find it there. -
I did check the service manual. It mentions an RTC battery but it does not show where it is located as far as I can tell. It doesn't even seem like it shows the type of battery. I tried searching everywhere to find the location of this thing and no luck.
