Hello all, this is my first post, so please bare with me. I just purchased my first laptop, I wanted a cheap, but functional laptop, so I choose the Acer Aspire 5532. I've been building and repairing PCs for years, but I have never messed with Laptop repair other then software issues and replacing RAM. I decided to upgrade the CPU to a AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual Core TL60. I started to try and disassemble the laptop, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do so. I've looked for tutorials for the 5532 with no luck, and I've looked at video tutorials on youtube, but they don't have any for the 5532. Can someone please give me some insight, or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!!!

I too am interested in this. I have been looking for videos explaining the disassembly of the 5532, Repair guides that would show how to remove the lower cover, etc. I have tried to open the 5532, but can only get so far. I have gotten all the screws removed from the bottom, there are a couple hiding under the keyboard, I have unhooked the wires from the Wireless card, removed the DVD drive, Hard Drive, and RAM, but there still seems to be something holding the bottom on near the touchpad. I don't want to risk breaking something, so I don't want to just pull on it and hope for the best. If anyone has a disassembly guide, or link to one, that would be greatly appreciated.

Found this link. There aren't any pictures, but sounds detailed enough to follow. I would recommend either doing this near another computer, or printing out the directions before attempting.

Ok, as an update, I finished doing this upgrade about 30 minutes ago. I did a quick "Power on test" in which the computer detected the new processor, did an update and needed to reset. I let the computer reset then went into System properties. Windows 7 showed the new processor as the AMD Turion x2 TL-56 which is what I had installed. (I found this processor on e-bay for $16, not a bad price for a noticeable increase in performance.) I ran a couple short video clips in HD, which would occasionally get a little choppy with the single core, and they ran flawlessly. After ordering this processor shortly after Christmas, I was finally able to install it and quite impressed at the difference. I have already upgraded the HD to the WD Scorpion 320 GB. Now to take the RAM from 3gb to 4gb....
