My daughter bought an Aspire 5536 with Vista and took it off to college. To access their network and do their thing, they installed some college software. At about the two week mark, there was a hardware problem and it went to Acer Service in Mississauga. Over almost three weeks they replaced cpu, motherboard, hard drive, etc. Because she had to get on with her course, they gave it back to her with a temporary copy of Vista. They mailed a full copy within a week. But she had gone back to college and had their IT re-load the college software.
Now at about a month later, her log-on id in VISTA (Valued Acer Customer) has become a temporary id. She has lost her desktop and cannot save to her id.
So what to do? Is this a reformat, reload and back to college for a third set of their software, or is there some kind of recovery of the temporary Acer ID that I can make permanent?
    Pls & Thx
    Ausonius

Just to get a better understanding. Can she log into the "Valued Acer Customer" account? If she can, does it not let her save/change any settings?

Yup, she can log in, but cannot save/change settings.
