I've had this laptop since September 09 and it's had problems ever since, It's the RM-Turion x2 model with 4GB ram, 500GB hard drive and the ATI radeon mobility 3200.
I use this laptop at work for graphic design so it does get used alot. If the laptop has been off for an hour and I turn it back on it's fine, but after about 20 minutes the heat coming from the back becomes ridiculous and if I have it on my lap I have to move it as it burns me haha. The problem is when it starts getting hot, the whole laptop starts running slow, flash videos lag non-stop, it takes about 10 seconds for the save window to appear in Photoshop/word etc. I'm thinking of just ringing acer but no doubt they'll say they can't help or ask me to send it in and they'll send it back having not done anything to it!
I'm wondering if there is a solution to this? I'm also dual booting Windows 7 64-bit and the pre-loaded Windows Vista which is 32-bit, both versions have the same problems, I've had a look at undervolting but I don't know where to start.
I'm looking at HWmonitor now and both the CPU cores are at 78 degrees C >.>
Thanks in advance for any tips you suggest,
Josh

For info, I have 3 laptops near me here, and have HWInfo on them all. The temps are:
Acer 5536 64degC both cores, max temp 73degC AMD
Acer 2920 52degC both cores, max temp 60degC Intel
Lenovo 300N100 55degC both cores, max temp 68degC Intel
The 2 Acers are similar speed processors, the Lenovo slightly slower.
All seem to stay responsive and unaffected by heat, although run continuously. I am normally processing audio rather than using extensive graphics.
The Lenovo had to have its fan and ducts cleaned recently, which was an easy job. The amount of fluff and dirt removed was staggering. It feels as if it is running at a reasonable temperature.
The Acer 2920 is just great. Runs cool, although the fan does run fairly consistently.
The Acer 5536 does have a hot patch in the middle underneath and blows very hot air out the back. The other 2 machines have vents in the middle underneath, the 5536 doesn't. I haven't noticed it slowing down. Mine is running Win 7 on an old HD while I decide whether to stick with the original HD and Vista, otherwise similar spec to yours.
Not sure what country you are in, but I've just invested one pound in the local Pound shop on a usb laptop cooler. The laptop sits on it and the fan blows or sucks air at the bottom. The size of the laptop means it's all a bit wobbly, but a bit of carpentry could solve that. It brings the cpu temps down by about 2 degrees and gives an extra blue light underneath!
Acer Aspire 5536 speed/heat issues!
