I'm trying to replace the keyboard on my Aspire 5542 but can't work out how to remove it.
I believe I need to remove the panel above the keyboard that houses the speakers. On other models I see there are some screws to remove below the battery however on this model there isn't.
Anyone have any ideas?

I'm guessing here, but try removing all screws on the back of the laptop. Also the panel could be connected by plastic catches in addition to screws. Once you removed the screws on the back of the laptop get a small traditional flat screwdriver. Look for seams where the panel connects with the rest of the laptop. Insert carefully insert the screwdriver into the seams and move it. Maybe you will find catches which need to be pried open with a screwdriver.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain here. I'm very bad with simple English.
Just to repeat one more time, I'm guessing how the procedure should work.
