I bought my Aspire 5573 about three months ago, and had no problems with it, till now. Today morning I switched on the computer, and after working on it for around half an hour, closed the lid.

When I opened it up again after around half an hour, there was a wite horizontal lines two pixels tall, about one and a half inches from the bottom of the screen.

I called my dealer, who told me to bring it in. He is an authorized distributor for the Acer dealer for Sri Lanka, so I called the Acer Sri Lanka company also ( www.metropolitan.lk), and asked them about the issue.

They said that they are willing to replace the screen for me. And if they don't have the screen in stock, they will get it down from Singapore and fix it. So far, everything sounds good. But would have to wait and see.

Does anyone know why this kind of problem comes up? I though dead pixels were just pixels, and not lines, and were black?

Sounds like dead pixel problem.but I got same kind of problem with my old Dell 6400 & finally i found it's a VGA driver problem. So try to reinstall your VGA driver or restore your system using recovery DVDs.BTW nice to see Sri Lankan person here.

My personal experience with Metropolitan is not good. So be careful. They maybe saying bla bla bla...... & finally saying it's your fault.

Good luck Dinidu De Alwis :)

Okay... This had to be the best customer satisfaction story ever...

I went to my Dealer (Asian Computers)... Without an invoice or a single piece of paper... No fuss whatsoever... They had a look at the serial number, and gave me the Metropolitan Invoice number in about fifteen minutes after digging through records...

And I went to Metropolitan, with just my Invoice number on a piece of paper... They take a look at it, double check with the records... Look at the computer...

Apparently, they don't have the screen in stock, and will bring it down within two weeks... No questions asked... NOTHING! They'll call me in a week to let me know the status of the screen... And hopefully, I'll have the screen replaced free of charge in under three weeks...

Other brands might be better, but I'm so not switching! :)

This is coming in way late, cos I forgot to put this in.

They replaces the screen free of charge, and no questions asked!
