OK so the laptop was at work a few months ago and it worked fine all morning, came back after lunch and I touched it to log on and hit enter and it told me incorrect password, so i typed it in again and used the touch pad to hit the login. Then I open my email and go to type and I notice all the outside keys, for example enter, backspace, shift basically all the outside keys do not work they put in other things, like if i hit tab it shows ":sehyi" and enter shows "yi" then it goes to the next line and ":3", backspace gives you the "time and date" but is inserted before ":3" and brings up windows media player. Ok so I have replaced the keyboard on the laptop with a new one and it still does it. What am I missing here?? The building where I work has carpet through out (yeah smart eh? computers in a huge static electiricty environment) I don't know what else to try to replace, so any advice would be great. Thanks

Same here... low static environment and it does it randomly to the point of the keyboard not working anymore.

I've tried reinstalling the launch/keyboard driver but to no avail... nothing worst than a computer you just can't type on.

Sorry, mine is an Acer Extensa 4230 bought less than a month ago, running on Vista Home Basic.

That was the first thing I did, was the Acer restore, back to orginal! Yep that did not work, then I read online somewhere about the keyboard so I ordered one from Acer. And that did not work either. :( Mines running Vista home premium, not that would make a difference. My warranty is up, wished I had extended it for another year. Funny how that works! I'm going to keep looking online hopefully one day I will find a clue. Unless anyone else has any ideas???
