    I just bought an Acer Aspire 5630 - 6368 from FutureShop.ca .
I checked the manual where it shows what port/buttons etc are there. And under some items it says "for selected models".

    Items with "for selected models":-

    - 1394, 4-pin IEEE 1394 port.
I couldn't find the port on laptop where its supposed to be as indicated by picture in manual.
Now my 4 year old fujitsu notebook has firewire and everyother notebook I seen has firewire. My current digital camera uses USB cable so it is ok but I know there are lots of devices that use Firewire. What makes me unhappy is the fact that the latest Firewire 1394 supports data transfer speed of 800 and USB 2.0 supports sluggish half of it that is about 400.
Why Acer didn't put Firewire in this notebook that costs $1000 CDN !

    - Express Card/34 slot. There is a slot with dummy plastic cover in it. But I'm not sure if the slot works or its just a dummy.

    - IR Infrared Port. I placed my old Pocket PC pointing at the spot where IR supposed to be in Acer but NO GO. No IR.
I had thought that I would use this feature to transfer files from my current laptop to this Acer.

    - 5-in-1 card reader. I think this one is supported as there are icons indicating the support over card slot.

    - CIR receiver. This one is like a confusing cheap/ugly slot covered with a permanent dummy button. Not supported.

    - 3G. The button is there, pressing it shows "No 3G Device". Not sure what that means. If button pressed in other direction then it shows "No Bluetooth Device" even if I have bluetooth enabled on my mobile phone.

    - DVI-D port. Its clearly not there.

    - Ventialation slots! totally supported.

Can't the cheapos make the MANUAL specific to the laptop model. This supported/not-supported type of listing adds confusion and is deceiving.
