Hey I did a clean wipe of my paritioned drives and replaced the standard vista with XP professional.

Everything went smoothly until I found out that my ethernet controller driver is missing and i scoured the net to no avail.

The closest thing I've found is the giga/lan 10/100 but its for broadcom extreme, which according to xp, I do not have.

    Does anyone have a solution?

If you know what brand ethernet card you have (onboard) then you can download the appropriate drivers for it.

All of the official acer XP drivers for the 5630 can be found here
I suggest you use those drivers for XP

    Hope this helps you... :)
