    Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire 5652WLMi (similar to the 5672 that seems very popular, but with an nVidia video chip instead of ATI) but which works perfectly in all ways but one; power management seems a little screwy.

Specifically, if I choose to suspend the notebook when running Windows XP, it turns the LCD off and appears to go to sleep but it doesn't quite manage it. The power button remains lit - I thougt that in sleep mode the laptop was supposed to have no power button light.

When in this almost-sleep mode, it is impossible to wake the PC up either; pressing any key, moving the mouse and opening and closing the lid all have no effect. The only way out of the mess is to hold down the power button for four seconds to turn it off.

The other strange behaviour of the notebook is XP's hibernate facility. If I tell the notebook to hibernate, it does everything as you'd expect but then restarts and unhibernates, instead of shutting down!

All of the above is the same on batteries and external power.

I've also tried Windows Vista RC1; it has the exact same behaviour.

    Any clues?

    S.
