So, my second post about the other laptop. We have an aspire 5670 (ati x1400) still going strong.

    (1) Wondering what peoples' experiences with the T7600CPU has been with respect to additional heat? Our 5670 already runs somewhat hot, but that might be dust as much as anything, as I have yet to open it up.

    (2) With the new 3239 BIOS, does the laptop support 4GB RAM, or is it still the original 2GB maximum for RAM?

    (3) SSD experiences/recommendations for the A5670?

    (4) Lastly, is it confirmed that the laptop (x1400 version)is not MXM II compatible?

Sorry for the bother! Haven't seen any posts on the 5670 in recent months, and I'm looking to spend some time over the winter hols upgrading both laptops.

    Cheers! :)

Acerbhattac, just for the future, I would have combined this topic with yours about the 5670 and just call it "Acer Upgrade Ideas - 5670 and 7720G."

    1. Depends on what CPU you have right now is. The T7600 is rated for 34W of thermal output, which is only 3W more than a Core (1) Duo. Cleaning out the system might be a good call. And if you're starting with a Core Duo, the BIOS upgrade will probably be needed to get the Core 2 Duo to work.

    2. If you've got a Core 2 Duo in your machine, the 945PM chipset will be able to accept 4GB of RAM - the usable amount might be lower, however, due to a limitation of the 945PM chipset.

    4. Checked the service guide - no MXM. The TV tuner card on some models is just about as big as one, though.

My bad on the double post, TehSuigi.

Thanks for all the info! I'll see if I can put together some pictures from when I get around to doing the upgrades :)

    Cheers
