    Ok, i was having some issues with the wifi on my Aspire 5670 and after troubleshooting for a couple days just got fed up and used ther ecovery disk to wipe everything, figured it was about time to do so anyways.

    Well after updating and such I noticed that #1 any program i ran took forever to start up, the first time i ran it, but then afterwards would start up in a flash as long as i didnt reboot. and then i also noticed that if there was really any cpu load going on while there was sound playing the sound would become extremely garbbled or skip a bit, as long as nothing but windows media player ( or any other program i've tried for sound ) was running it would be.. okay, but still sometimes skip or pause a second, which is really annoying.

    Also when extracting things with winrar or the such, the mouse becomes very sluggish till its finished. it's weird, it never ran like this before..

    Any and all help would be appreciated, Thanks in advance.
    Joe

    I've had no problems what so ever with my 5672 under xp home / xp pro / vista 32 bit / linux when it comes to the default programs or getting them to run properly.

    Alex is on the right track, make sure what is running properly on the fresh install. Also look at what is in startup under msconfig. ;)

    basically i've the same configuration as you, we both have a 5670 and 2G ram.
    i'm using Vista ultimate RTM, follow these steps and see if gets better:

    1. right-click on Computer -> Manage -> Device Manager -> Disk Drives
    Right-click on your HD -> properties -> Policies
    enable BOTH check-boxes for Performance and Advanced Performance

    2. go in the CP -> Program and Features -> Turn Windows features on or off
    disable Remote Differential Compression

    3. go to http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
    and download the latest drivers for vista (R1.63) for the sound card and install them.

    4. when done reboot.
